The clouded natural lens is what scatters the light. Replacing it with a clear implant brings contrast back. Reading glasses stay part of the picture afterwards.

These implants spread focus across more than one distance, so glasses are needed less often for near work. Not every eye suits them. Corneal shape, pupil behaviour and retinal health settle that at the exam.

A pterygium, a strained cornea, or a lens that has shifted changes the order of the plan. Sometimes both steps happen in one session. Sometimes they are staged so the measurements are taken on a settled cornea.
