Dr. Ahmed Shaarawy
He trained at Devers Eye Institute (Portland, Oregon) under Prof. Mark A. Terry, one of the pioneers of modern DMEK and DSAEK endothelial transplantation. He was the first to introduce the S-DMEK technique in Egypt. He is a Lecturer (Researcher) of Ophthalmology at the Research Institute of Ophthalmology, Egypt, a consultant cornea and refractive surgeon, and has two surgical techniques in the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) video library, Smart Splash and Graft Exchange DALK.

Established the S-DMEK technique (selective endothelial transplantation with S-stamp tissue orientation) as part of the standard of care in Egypt. He first presented stamped DMEK tissue in Egypt in May 2015, at the 1st International Egypt & Middle East Congress on Femtosecond Laser Eye Surgeries in Cairo.
