First S-DMEK in Egypt and the Arab region
Established the S-DMEK technique (selective endothelial transplantation with S-stamp tissue orientation) as part of the regional standard of care.
Smart Splash: AAO 1-Minute Video
Developed a novel surgical technique for DALK (deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty) that uses a blunt spatula to safely decompress the big bubble. Published in the AAO 1-Minute Video series.
Graft Exchange DALK: AAO Editors' Choice
Surgical video on repeated DALK technique for failed grafts in pediatric patients, selected as AAO Editors' Choice.
Past 5,000 procedures
LASIK, ICL, cataract, ICRS, DMEK, DSAEK, DALK, PKP and stem-cell procedures, all performed in one clinic. The count comes from Dr. Shaarawy's own operative record across 20+ years of practice. It is a volume figure and nothing more, not a success rate.
